Callum McGregor has been in excellent form of late but last night’s performance against RB Leipzig may have been the best of his recent displays.
The homegrown Hoops talent showed 60,000 people in the East End of Glasgow and many more watching on TV that he may well be the best midfielder produced by the club in a generation.
The academy graduate led the charge against the Germans in the middle of the park, showing he has the defensive discipline, tactical knowledge and natural footballing talent to go up against fantastic and expensive opposition.
One of the lasting questions regarding the Celtic squad in recent years has been who is going to take over from Scott Brown when he eventually retires and right now there’s only one answer.
The 25-year-old is really stepping up in the wake of Brown’s recent injury absence and he can take his game further still, he is only 25 years of age after all.
Fans could praise him enough last night but took to Twitter to try their best…

Well @Celtic you have made me hold my hands up and apologise for being a fickle fan in previous weeks and I look back at my comments and think "how wrong could I of been" Callum McGregor in the CDM role has been nothing short of brilliant. 1/3
