That was a surprise yesterday was it not?

John Park deciding to take a job at our greatest rivals as scout?

Never really saw that coming to be fair.

But John Park to Rangers certainly set a few eyebrows raising amongst the Celtic support.

The man credited for discovering Virgil van Djik now finds himself plying his trade across the city and former Celtic defender Mark Wilson, has defended the move.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Wilson said, “It will always be like that in this city and  fans will think you should never cross the divide.

“Now I can totally understand that.  I’m like that a lot of the time.

“However, for people who maybe aren’t invested in the club, on a support level, who haven’t been brought up to follow Celtic or Rangers, to be fair, sometimes it’s a job for these guys.

*NEW* Who am I? How good is your Celtic player knowledge?

“A huge club. Why wouldn’t they go to another huge club? And John Park is no different.

“Now, you only have to ask the youth players of Celtic at the time the job that John Park done before he went to Rangers.

“Every one of them will speak about him in glowing terms. And it’s probably the same at Celtic with John Park and the staff.

“The staff upstairs would probably get a better picture of what John Park brought to the club but we got to see the players that he was bringing in our dressing room. So he did a terrific job.

“He’s got the opportunity to go to another massive club, why would you not take that?”

He has a point. Park has no loyalties to Celtic and as far as I know he’s not a fan of the club but even he must know this move will go down like a lead balloon in the east end.

And it will be even worse if the move pays off for the Ibrox club.
