Ever since Moussa Dembele left Glasgow for the French Ligue 1 to ply his trade for Lyon in an £18m deal three seasons ago, the big Frenchman was expected to kick on and become a fully established French international.

But since his move, Dembele has made just 76 appearances for the French cracks but still managed to score and impressive thirty two goals. Admittedly, the majority of his appearances are coming from the bench but that only makes his scoring exploits that more impressive.

However, without the consistency of first team football, Dembele has seen his international career stall as he has yet to be capped at full international level. Recognising this, the big French forward decided on a move to Atletico Madrid last season with Atletico having the option to buy if he impressed.

After making only seven appearances and failing to find the back of the net, Dembele’s Spanish dream seemed to be over, until now.

According to Foot Mercato, Atletico have re-entered talks with Lyon to take Dembele back to Los Colchoneros with a view to a multi million pound move.

Should the La Liga giants wish to take the talented Frenchman on a permanent basis, Dembele could be theirs  for a €30m (£25m) fee.

Once touted for a move to Manchester United, Dembele will now set his sights on winning a permanent move to the Metropolitano Stadium, and with Celtic due a 10% sell on of  any fee raised in a future transfer, the Hoops could net a further £2.5m should Dembele’s second stint in Madrid be successful.
