Listen, we all know Ange is a quality manager.

We all know that the club will, eventually, lose the manager to a club in one of the biggest leagues in Europe.

There is no denying that. Through his time at Celtic, Ange Postecoglou has silenced the doubters and naysayers (mainly in the Scottish media) and has proven was an astute and quality manager he is.

At Celtic, you are always exposed to mounting media attention due to the size and pull of the club.

If you’re a success you will be automatically linked to vacancies down south just as we have witnessed over the last week with the Brighton rumours.

Enough about them.

But what is concerning is that Ange is still on this dreaded one-year rolling contract.

Now we all know the benefits of this type of contract but surely the club should be looking to offering the gaffer a longer term deal?

Not only to give Ange security but to also ensure the club get suitably recompensed should clubs come sniffing for him.

And that is exactly what Mark Guid has urged the Celtic hierarchy to do.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Guidi said, “I think that Ange Postecoglou is going to have people chasing him.

“I think there’ll be significant interest in him in the summertime, no doubt, if Celtic go and keep a hold of the title again, if his team keeps producing performances like that in Europe.

“He’s destined for down south, La Liga.

“I think wherever he wants to go he’ll have an opportunity to go. It depends on what he wants to do with Celtic. He clearly enjoys it here. His family love it here.

“There’s total respect and admiration from the club and the fans. I don’t think he’s motivated by money but money is a factor and he could treble his wages.

“What Celtic should do, if they’ve not already done it, and something may be done in private that we’re not aware of yet.

“But what they should do is go and get him a Brendan Rodgers contract so when somebody comes in for him, Celtic get nine or ten million pounds.

“He is the biggest asset at the football club. The most important man at the football club.

“He has shown again that he is a quality manager, he’s not a flash in the pan.

“He is a proper manager and Celtic will do well to hold onto him.”

Contracts are not worth anything in terms of loyalty because as we have seen all too often, if players or managers want to leave they can. Regardless of the terms.

But as Mark said, at least the club would have that security of a huge pay out should he leave.

And, let’s face it, it is just a matter of if and not when.

Just let it not be now.

I have been saying this for weeks surely the board know this and it is only them that can do something about it, bring him right into the Celtic fold like the directors, it is up to them to see this, or will they leave it to late.

PADDY I’ve already said this on another blog, celtic should do a Jim Mc lean and ask ange to sign a 10 year deal,if he signs and then wants to leave we don’t have to take a 9 or 10 million WE start the bidding at the price we value Ange at.
