Celtic’s transfer business is picking up pace nicely and yesterday seemed to be a flurry of excitement as the club were heavily linked with PSG youngster Edouard Michut.

With rumours suggesting that the youngster had a fallout with the club, it seemed that a £2.5m move was on the cards to Paradise.

Until Ange Postecoglou quashed the rumours.

Speaking in the Daily Record, the Celtic boss said about Édouard Michut, Yeah, good player, but no.

“I have an interest in every good footballer in the world, but there is a limited market which I can tap into.

“He’s another footballer who is very much talented and very much in my range, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to bring him in, no.”

Interestingly, the Celtic gaffer mentioned a long standing linked player in Aaron Mooy.

Currently based in Glasgow, the Aussie was thought to be on Celtic’s radar, but the gaffer batted those rumours away as well, “Aaron’s a fantastic footballer, somebody I know really well.

“I’m sure he will get picked up, he’s a very talented player.

“In terms of us, we have got a plan that we are sticking to and so far I am pretty happy with the progress we are making on all fronts and hopefully there will be some news coming out before the season starts.

“We are going through the process and making sure we get the ones that we need.”

No doubt there will be more rumours in the coming weeks but it is refreshing to see Ange addressing these in public to end or confirm the speculation.

It was strange that the club were linked with Michut as he seems like an attacking type midfielder when all the speculation is the club could be after a defensive midfielder.

But if the price that is being quoting is to be believed, at just 19 years old, I can understand why he was linked with us as he does fit Celtic’s profile of buying young at a good price with the view to reselling at a profit.

This will be interesting to see how it develops in the coming days.
