Celtic’s pursuit of Dylan Reid from St Mirren has been highly documented over the last few days.

Ange Postecoglou himself addressed the speculation as reports suggested that the Paisley club had accepted an offer for the player and now Reid is deciding where his future may lie.

The Buddies manager, Stephen Robinson, addressed the speculation yesterday afternoon.

Speaking to Sky Sports [cited by the Daily Record] Robinson said, “Obviously we’re a club that has to develop players and has to sell players.

“We believe Dylan is a highly-rated young talent that we can develop here.

“We have an academy system that produces players, there’s no fewer than six young players training with us currently.

“Kieran Offord may start the game on Saturday (against Cowdenbeath), he’s been brilliant and there are other young kids in and around that.

“For me it’s a very good club for young players to develop. Dylan, his advisors and his family have decisions to make.

“He doesn’t need to look too much further than here to develop.”

But interestingly, Robinson was quite cryptic when he specifically addressed the rumour that Reid could be leaving the club,  “There’s been a lot of talk as there always is. You can’t control that.

“He’s a talented boy, as are a lot of our young players. They get recognition and attention and some of it’s true, some of it isn’t.”

By all accounts, this does seem like a signing for the future and it seems that Celtic are trying to add to their academy numbers after the loss of many young stars over the last two seasons.

Hopefully young Reid decides that his future lies in Paradise and we will see him in a hooped shirt before too long.
