Celtic are through to the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup after thrashing St Johnstone 5-0 at home on Sunday.

The Hoops have now won seven games in a row, scoring 21 goals without reply, marching towards yet another treble of domestic trophies under Brendan Rodgers.

A hat-trick from Scott Sinclair, a James Forrest effort and a Scott Brown rocket ensured progress to the next round, with Celtic looking like winning the match from the very first whistle.

One of the notable good performances throughout the 90 minutes was Jonny Hayes’.

The Irishman had started just three matches prior to today, with just one of those coming since August.

Starting in an unfamiliar position at left-back, he was a hard working and energetic stand-out throughout, especially in the second half when he started to influence our attacks, eventually bursting forward and setting up Forrest for his goal.

Fans were delighted to see him stake a claim for a more regular start, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on his Sunday display…
