I’m always loathe to rehash old managers and how they left the club or focus on the negative part of their reign, but with Brendan Rodgers, it’s slightly different.
A man the professed his love for the club at every opportunity he could really had a strange way of showing it.
He left at the first opportunity he had and yes, I know there were rumours of issues with him clashing with certain people in power, but if you truly love something that much, you work at it. Like a marriage. You don’t just up sticks and leave.
And Mark Scwarzer reckons that will never happen with Ange.
Speaking in the Mail +, Schwarzer said, “I think the anger with Rodgers was more about the timing and the way it was done.
‘That’s everything and it’s key. In saying that, do you always get to pick the right time? Sometimes it’s now or never.
“And if, down the line, there are opportunities? Well, then, you have to make tough decisions.
‘But everywhere Ange has left he has done it on good terms. He has always done it the right way.
“I can’t see it being any different when he goes from Celtic.”
Neither can I. The way Ange speaks and how he presents himself to the media and the fans tells you that this man is a man of his word.
He’s started a project here, one that hadms barely gotten off the ground.
He knows that if he gets this project done right, he will become a legend at the club.
But even at that, ego is not what drives Ange. His brand of football does.
He wants football played the right way at every club he goes to.
It’s not quite there yet, fully, at Celtic but when it is, that’s when Ange will go.
