“He might need to move on” – Failed Hoops manager takes aim at legend

|

We all remember John Barnes ill fated spell at Celtic as part of the “Dream Team” with Kenny Dalglish.  The plan never came to fruition and after a humiliating cup defeat at home against Inverness Caley Thistle, Barnes was sacked and the real Celtic revolution began when Martin O’Neill was lured form Leicester  City to see in twenty years of domestic dominance by Celtic.

For ten of those twenty trophy laden years Celtic captain, Scott Brown, has been at Paradise and has led the club to a second nine in a row and a record Quadruple Treble but Barnes reckons Brown’s time is up and he may need to consider moving on if Celtic are serious about a complete rebuild next season.

Should Roberto Martinez replace Neil Lennon?

YES

NO

Speaking to BonusCodeBets, transcribed by The Daily Record, Barnes said, “Scott Brown has been a fantastic servant to the club and whether this will be his last season, only time will tell, but if Celtic want to bring in new players to challenge Rangers next season, that might mean that Scott Brown plays less games, and he might have to consider moving on.

“Every player gets to a stage in their career where it’s coming to an end, he’s had a great career, winning nine Scottish titles in a row, he’s done everything he can, but at his age now, he’s not going to get any better.

“I’m not sure if this will be his last season at Celtic, but if Celtic wants to improve next season, it might mean bringing in new players which results in Scott Brown playing less games.

“However, the way Celtic have played this season, that might be the case for quite a few of the players in the squad.”
