Celtic were linked with a move for Swansea City defender Connor Roberts this weekend, with outlets like The Daily Record stating the Hoops were eyeing a move for him in the upcoming January transfer window.

Celtic are badly in need of reinforcement in the right-back area, with Mikael Lustig’s form taking a major dip over the last 12 months. Many fans believe the team needs an upgrade and it appears the club have made it a priority.

The player himself has remained vague about his future when asked about recent transfer speculation.

As quoted by Wales Online, he said: “I’ve got to keep on performing well on the pitch for club and country, that’s my job. I’ve got representatives who will support me off the pitch. That’s their job to sort that out for me. At the moment I just concentrate on playing well, whether it be for club or country.”

The full-back has been a regular for Wales of late having impressed for Swansea in the English Championship this season.

With his contract set to expire at the end of this season, it could be the perfect opportunity to pick up an ambitious and talented young player on the cheap.

Will we see a January move for him? It’s worth keeping an eye on at least.
