“He’s a fighter” – Defender set to stay at Celtic

|

On loan Brighton defender, Shane Duffy, is to stay at Celtic, Brighton boss, Graham Potter, has confirmed.  Duffy has had a torrid time settling in at Celtic and his form, coupled with personal loss has not helped the big Irish captain find his best form for the Hoops.

Duffy has a loan deal for the rest of the season but Potter has said the the agreement must be honoured and that he also backs Duffy to turn around the poor form and start producing on the pitch. Potter said at his press conference“Shane is at Celtic for the season, that was the arrangement – he was keen to go there and Celtic were keen to have him.

It’s a season-long loan and we will assess at the end of that season, it’s probably not gone as well as he would have liked.

But I have said before that Shane is a fighter, he is a good character and a good guy. I am sure he will be fighting to make things better”

Celtic boss, Neil Lennon, will certainly be hoping Potter’s prediction will come true as Duffy’s mistakes have cost his side on more than one occasion this season.  Duffy had a torrid time so far this season and has been the butt of much scrutiny from Scotland’s football pundits.
