Ex Celtic defender, Mark Wilson, has weighed in on the Celtic manager debate and has staked a claim for probably every Celtic fans worst nightmare.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Wilson has said that if current interim manager, John Kennedy, wins at Ibrox on Sunday, he will be right up there to claim the top job as his own, “Just because nothing has happened and nothing has moved on with Eddie Howe and the more days that pass by, the greater chance John Kennedy has of getting the job increases.

Should John Kennedy become the next Celtic manger?

NO

YES

“And it just seems lately he is becoming more comfortable in the the role should I say, and if he goes there (Ibrox) and he wins, then who knows?”
“If he goes to Ibrox and wins, I’ve got to say, he’s right there in the running.  John Kennedy was also part of the huge success over the years at Celtic and just on Saturday, it was the first time I’ve just seen a wee difference in the way Celtic played.

With the amount of glamorous names linked since Neil Lennon left the position and with the constant speculation surrounding Eddie Howe, I don’t think the appointment of John Kennedy would be enough to appease the Celtic supporters or encourage them to renew their season tickets at the end of this current campaign.

Even a convincing win on Sunday and a Scottish Cup would still not convince me that he is the man to take the club forward but looking at the track history of this current Celtic board, nothing would surprise me one bit.
