The Champions League is over and the domestic campaign resumes tomorrow at 3pm when Celtic take on Dundee United.

Many Celtic fans will be glad to see the back of Europe after finishing bottom of the group whilst others will look back fondly at the progress this team has made under Ange Postecoglou.

Finishing bottom of the group might not look like progress but when you look at the bigger picture in terms of chances created and the style of football we deployed, many will argue that they would rather see the team have a go than sit back and defend and still get soundly beaten.

But it could have been worse. Just look across the other side of the city.

Labelled as the worst Champions League side in the history of the competition the Ibrox club will have many mental scars from their campaign which is why when we are comparing both clubs performances, you should do so with a sense of perspective.

And that is exactly what Hugh Keevins did on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

When asked about he felt about the Glasgow fared in the competition, Keevins said, “You know how this city works. The Rangers fans will say, ‘If we’d lost 5-1 you would have been picking holes in everything we do!’

“And the response I have to that is that when Rangers lose 5-1 they look as if they have been done 5-1.

“Celtic tend to go down with a bit of valour about them.”

And that is the reason why Ange Postecoglou and his side have taken some plaudits from this campaign.

Name me another side that goes to the Bernabeu and has 14 shots on goal with 8 on target? Even at home against the European Champions we still fashioned 10 chances with 4 shots on goal and outplayed them for parts of the game.

That’s the difference and that’s the reason why our campaign should never be compared to theirs, regardless of the league positions.

Who am I? – Can you guess this Celtic legend from the clues given?
