Celtic have seen many class players grace the Paradise turf over the years.

From the good old days of Jimmy Johnstone, Kenny Dalglish and Paul McStay to Lubo Moravcik, Henrik Larsson and Moussa Dembele, the fans are no strangers to watching players of world-class quality strut their stuff at Celtic Park.

And there are no better world-class players than Virgil van Dijk.

The big Dutchman joined Celtic back in 2013 as a £2.5m signing from Groningen and almost straight away we could see what a class act he was.

After two and a half seasons at the club he moved to Southampton for £13m [BBC] and then to Liverpool for a record-breaking £75m fee [BBC].

But it was his move to Celtic that really opened up his eyes to just how big the club as he told Gary Neville about his time at the Hoops.

Speaking on The Overlap via Football Scotland, the big Dutchman said, “Being able to go from FC Groningen to Celtic was a big one because I played for one of the biggest clubs in the world that nobody really realises in my opinion.

“I didn’t realise much before I joined but when I joined it was unbelievable.

“Playing Champions League in my first season; Barcelona, AC Milan, played against Ajax the year after in the Europa League. I won two league trophies, I won the cup trophy so all these things and the experience made me ready for the Premier League.”

Since his move from Celtic, van Dijk’s career has just gone from strength to strength.

He has had a stunning four years at Liverpool where he has picked up an EPL title, a Champions League and World Club Championship amongst other medals.

Big Virgil is the best defender I’ve seen at the club in recent times and he is set to win his 50th cap for his international side.

Who am I? How good is your Celtic player knowledge?
