There are many people in the media I have seen defend the appointment of Ange Postecoglou. From ex players to former coaches, many have spoke up for the new Celtic manager against the negativity of the appointment.

One man I never thought I would hear making a case for Ange, was Hugh Keevins.

Keevins is a long time critic of Celtic and more often than not, always seems to find a way to deride the club with his analysis of the goings on at Celtic Park.

But when appearing on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins found himself on the other side of the fence as he sensationally defended Postecoglou when one caller, a Rangers* fan (surprise surprise) decided to call in and call the Hoops gaffer as the “next Pedro Caixinha”, Keevins was having none of it and sensationally spoke up for the big Aussie, “I would see this in his defence straight away. I cannot think of any manager in my lifetime, who has gone to Celtic with a greater burden on his shoulders than Ange Postecoglou is carrying.

“Because there is a monumental rebuild required. The club has been turned upside down in the space of a year. The players who really mattered for Celtic are going out of the club. Brown, Edouard, Ajer and perhaps more to follow.

Is Ange Postecoglou the man for the Celtic job?

YES

YES

NO

NO

“The rebuild is substantial. And he has no experience of working on this continent. I think I feel sympathetic towards him because it’s a heck of a job.

It has to be done in a short space of time, but whether it’s Dominic (caller) saying he is the next Pedro Caixinha or Celtic fans saying he could be the next Wim Jansen. Nobody knows for sure until we start playing matches.”

And for once, I agree with Keevins. No one can tell how this appointment will go but I know one thing for sure. As soon as that first whistle sounds on the new season, the Celtic fans will be behind their new manager 100% of the way.
