With the question of who will become part of Ange Postecoglou’s backroom team on everyone’s lips, there has been a major development that will please probably almost all Celtic fans.

John Kennedy is reportedly considering his future at Celtic Park as he prepares to take the first team through their pre season schedule.

The much maligned Interim Manager has been the subject of much derision from the Celtic support and many would like to see him and current first team coach, Gavin Strachan,  shown the door as many fans demand a complete clearout of those responsible for the disastrous season that saw Celtic fail to life silverware for the first time in over a decade.

Much was made of Kennedy’s role within the squad and he was singled out by a section of the supporters as they wrongly pointed the accusatory finger at him for the defensive frailties in the team because many wrongly believed he was the “defensive coach“.

Is Ange Postecoglou the man for the Celtic job?

It is understood Kennedy wants to assess his options as he looks to pursue a career in management and with the uncertainty over his future under Postecoglou, the time may now feel right to move on.

If Kennedy does decide to move on, could Celtic be making another mistake as the coach is highly regarded amongst his peers and players, so much so that former boss Brendan Rodgers did try to tempt him to a move to Leicester City.

It looks like a new era is dawning at Celtic Park and it may be without Kennedy.
