Surely its not just me that’s getting pretty tired by this lazy kind of journalism and punditry.

Now I know it makes headlines. I know it encourages clicks but surely any pundit and journalist worth their salt would stop. Think and then put some context into what they are talking about.

All this week we have had people telling us that Celtics bottle will be tested in the title run in. Why?

Because of one defeat in over thirty matches.

No mention of how our rivals bottled a seven point lead to a six point deficit.

Nothing.

It’s all about Celtic now because Celtic sells.

And Hugh Keevins continues that narrative this morning in his column in the Daily Record.

He made a claim about last weekends Scottish Cup semi final that, to me, is simply way out of order.

Keevins said, “Celtic bottled it against Rangers in last Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden, to my way of thinking. Rangers got in their faces and Celtic didn’t respond in kind.

“The one thing they’ll need, above all else in the league from today onwards is bottle – and five games worth of it.”

Bottled it? Have you ever such rubbish?

Lost because they were poor? Yes.

Lost because the opposition played that wee bit better? Yes.

Bottled? Come on!

This is a team that went behind in a major cup final and won it.

This is a team that was down and out (according to Hugh) back in September and now are now on the cusp of something great.

Bottle? That is certainly something you cannot accuse this team of lacking after this season.

Keevins says anything to be controversial….but I have to sort of disagree with some comments in the article.
First…I agree we had several players who didn’t turn up and played below par….but the biggest reason for the way things went was down to extremely bad refereeing.

If Madden had prevented the orc mob from producing a rugby style approach to the game, and had produced the cards deserved…two, possibly 3 reds for the tribute team…and yellows for others, the game would have flowed better.

Notice yesterday v Motherwell, straight red for Ballogun for a tackle he learned last week via Lundstrum, who committed the same taxes 3 times without receiving a yellow.

Bassey must really want a hoops top, cos he kept trying to pull them off rogic and Co…but only seen a yellow eventually.

    Aribo…already on a yellow, committed 2 more yellow offences…but didn’t see one.

Madden affected our play by allowing the thuggery that happened…..thus stopping our play.

They will be out to play the same tactics at paradise next week…..and we must be prepared for that cos GIO has accepted his team can’t play football as well as we do…so his only option…one used by the newco and oldco….is to break up play.
That’s fine if done legally…but its the refs job to ensure that if its being done illegally, then action is taken.

Further, had the guys last week who merited red cards have seen them, they would have been unavailable v Motherwell yesterday……

Operation help the mob well underway in its final stages…even down to giving the newco a penalty for nothing yesterday to ensure a gap of two goals v Motherwell.

Our board need to get on top of this…and Ange Postecoglou and the bhoys need to be prepared for refs turning blind eyes.

Why o why is this man still slaging celtic cant wait 4 him 2 say something when celtic win the league we see what hes got say. Com on the hoops shut this man up.

Having no bottle is something that Keevins knows all about. He has spent a Lifetime avoiding any criticism of Rangers as he is frightened of them,so don’t be talking about Bottle Keevo.

  • Allaboutceltic says:

HK is not a journalist. He’s a cynical dinosaur who should’ve been put out to farm a long time ago. The Sunday Mail brought him out of retirement to write 1 article per week and he does so in the manner of Victor Meldrew sitting on his sofa, battering away at his typewriter, cursing and lamenting all things Celtic, because he knows it will sell and also because he’s a sore, bitter old man. If he was to give the “old firm” the same treatment, he would soon lose that Sunday slot.

Get stocked up on jelly & ice cream, coz there’s gonna be a party at Celtic park on the 1st of May🥳

I think they did bottle it against Rangers. They didn’t compete for 50/50 balls and the right winger was nowhere to be seen and there was no bit in the midfield only Calum Mc.

  • Joseph McCormack says:

I would’t give an ounce of credit with regards to anything Keevins has to say or write.
He’s a dinosaur who delights in keeping the blue side happy with his constant Celtic put downs.
The Hoops have overcome a terrible start under Ange, not unexpected given what he had inherited, to have the league title in their sights with 2 victories from the last 4 games to seal the deal or even just 3 points will do when the Rangers come calling on Sunday.
