The international break is upon us and as most of the country seems focused on the Scotland game against Moldova of Friday night, the Celtic fans will be looking forward to the return of domestic football.

And why wouldn’t they?

The team are of fire. Playing great football. Scoring brilliant goals. And, no matter what the pundits say, are now becoming stronger at the back.

It’s a combination that makes for a great title winning side.

But, like I said, it is international week and as the Scotland team prepare for their penultimate World Cup qualifier, there is a notable absence in the squad.

The hero that got the national side to the Euros.

And he has been tipped for a move to Celtic Park.

After being asked by presenter, Paul Cooney, on The Go Radio Football Show, Barry Ferguson tipped former Scotland number one, Gordon Marshall for a move to Paradise, “Must be worrying for big Marshy, obviously out the picture at Derby.

“I don’t know why is it a contract situation? I find that strange because he was number one at Derby.

“Obviously brilliant  for Scotland. It must be financial.

“He’s still a top keeper big Marsh.

“I don’t think he’s going to cost anything. Derby would let him go on a free.

“He’s too good to be sitting about doing nothing. He needs to play and and he needs to get back into the the Scotland squad.”

But would he get in ahead of Joe Hart who has not only been brilliant for the Hoops so far this season, but has quickly become a fans favourite.

One thing is for sure.

We do need a good back up ‘keeper, and Marshall would certainly provide that.

But would he come to Celtic to sit on the bench?
