You do wonder how Ange Postecoglou manages to find the players he has unearthed over the last year.

From Kyogo to Abada to Juranovic, the Celtic boss just seems to have a knack of unearthing gems that no one has ever heard of before.

But this revelation surprised me as I had never read it before.

The inspiration behind Celtic signing Moritz Jenz seems to not only be that of the manager and the scouting team.

Matt O’Riley seems to have put in a good word for the big German.

Speaking on Celtic TV [relayed by The Athletic] O’Riley revealed the ‘chats’ he had with staff members and what he told them about the towering centre-half, “I was just trying to prod a few coaches here and there, making them aware of him.

“I knew Celtic were already interested in him. I had a couple of chats with a couple of staff members.

“They asked me what he was like as a person.

“Obviously, I knew him well and said he was a great guy.”

And this just relates back to what Ange has always said about his signing policy.

Postecoglou has maintained that it’s not only a player’s ability that will earn him a move to his side but also their personality [Glasgow Live].

And O’Riley’s recommendation seems to have paid off for the Celtic gaffer after Jenz’s performance and goal on Saturday helped seal an important away victory at Ross County.
