Celtic stalwart, John Hartson has revealed his shock at former Celtic captain, Scott Browns decision to leave Aberdeen today.

After the dismissal of Stephen Glass, Brown clearly felt his time was up at Pittodrie after reports claimed he was told that he wouldn’t be part of new gaffer Jim Goodwin’s backroom plans.

Brown is said to be keen to get into coaching and now maybe the path is clear for him to forge ahead with that plan.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Hartson said, “Obviously I speak to Scott regularly but I wouldn’t call him on a day like today. I respect his privacy.

“He might have something lined up. He might just want a rest, he might want a break.

“Knowing Scott that probably won’t be the case. He’ll want to be active and he might have several offers already.

“It’s a shock to me because I know he was really determined to go up to Aberdeen and not only play a role under Stephen Glass, he wanted to go and do a little bit of coaching.

“I’m not sure what he does from now but he’s had an incredible career.”

With speculation rife that there could be a way back into Celtic Park for the legendary former captain, it is not quite clear yet which path Brown will take as I’m sure he will be keen to follow his dream into coaching sooner, rather than later.
