The ace in the crowd was a surprise to us all.

Seeing Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park at anytime is a surprise to us all, especially after how a sizeable amount of the support view him.

But, as we all know, time is a great healer, for some and more fans seemed to be wishing him well than anything else.

But reacting to the news that the Invincibles manager was spotted at Paradise, Hugh Keevins reacted to the news in the most typical of fashions.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins said, “Well I’m glad he’s there.

“I suspect he’s there because he’s on the lookout for players because it’s the transfer window, he won’t get any from Celtic, that’s for sure.

“But I’m glad to see him there. I’m glad he understands that he can come back. I think the reaction to this departure was unfair on a man who had done so much and won so much for Celtic.

“He did nothing wrong. He took advantage of a career move that he thought is good for him back into the English Premier League.

“So I would say that, Brendan gorgeous deserves a civilised welcome at Celtic Park.”

Rodgers was obviously taking in a game because of the English Premier League shut down and I certainly don’t think he was there for anything sinister like searching for players.

Could you just imagine Ange Postecoglou’s reply to that query!

People like Spew Heavins and indeed most of the SMSM, are mere gossip mongers with little analytical ability and even less journalistic ability.

The days of Hugh McIlvanney and Ian Archer are sadly long gone.
