As the league season kicked of this weekend seeing Celtic stutter at Tynecastle, the supporters may be concerned, or they already know, that there isn’t a realistic chance of taking the title back from the blue half of Govan.

With Postecoglou’s rebuild chugging along at a snails pace, the frailties of the Celtic squad have been laid bare not only at Gorgie, but also in the disastrous Champions League qualifiers over the last two weeks.

A makeshift defence with a goalkeeper bereft of confidence AND a misfiring forward line has seen the Hoops concede basic goals and miss golden opportunities  that has cost them dearly over their opening three competitive fixtures of the season.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, the pundits were giving what their predictions are for the final league standings at the end of this season and all tipped Rangers to retain their title with Celtic finishing as runners up. All but one.

Hugh Keevins does what Hugh Keevins does best, takes the pin out of a grenade, launches it and waits for the phone lines to light up but this time, he takes trolling to a new level.

Keevins tipped Aberdeen to finish second, in front of Celtic at the end of the season and he said that the transfer business of getting players in AND out will come back to haunt them this year, “I think Celtic will finish third behind Aberdeen. I think a real possibility. I think there’s a worry about them.

“Their European performance in midweek was dire. I think that not enough attention has been paid to the business of getting players in and out of the club.

“And I think, to say that the eye has been taken off the ball would be an understatement because of the summertime wait for Eddie Howe was a drastic waste of time.

“It cost Celtic three months of business time, that was not utilised. I think Celtic supporters who are looking at the team just now would be concerned by the immediate future.”

We all know and expect Celtic to finish runners up as Ange Postecoglou gets this season of transition underway but do we really expect Aberdeen to be able to produce a wonder season that will relegate Celtic to third position in the league? I don’t think anyone seriously believes this except Hugh himself.
