As Celtic continue the search for reinforcements to their threadbare squad, the signs are looking ominous that there may be a few more incomings in the next few days.

As inept performances from the backline continue and the Celtic forwards seemingly not being able to hit a barn door with a beachball, there is a real worry this season that the Hoops will struggle to win any kind of silverware going by what the fans have witnessed in the opening games of the season.

With Carl Starflet making his debut in Celtic’s 2-1 loss to Hearts at Tynecastle, it is clear that the Hoops do require further additions to their backline as Nir Bitton clearly isn’t the man to partner the Swedish internationalist in the heart of defence.

With Ange Postecoglou revealing that Chris Julien will not be fit until October or November, Celtic are looking to raid another one of Dermot Desmond clubs.

Liam Scales has been hotly tipped to join the Hoops this summer as Celtic look to make a six figure offer for the Shamrock Rovers  utility defender.

Able to play in the centre of defence, left back and wing back positions, Scales has been identified as an ideal addition to the Hoops back four as Ange looks to plug a leaky defence that as already conceded five goals in its opening three competitive games.

According to the report, Celtic have been tracking Scales for a number of weeks now, as have other UK scouts, but with the Hoops majority shareholder Dermot Desmond holding a 25% stake in the Irish club, it would seem that this would put the Parkhead side in the driving seat to sign Scales before the end of the transfer window.
