“I think Rangers will win it” – Hugh Keevins latest prediction as Rangers media praise goes overboard

You know what impresses me about the media in Scotland?

They do not half get excited when Rangers have a good performance in the league.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not daft enough to deny that their results have been impressive.

Two dropped points against us at Ibrox when we were at our poorest is a good result for them, but can anyone honestly say that the performances on the pitch, bar the Hearts game, has left us feeling worried about the Beale ‘revolution’?

Nah, me neither.

Some contentious refereeing decisions have helped them on their way and if it wasn’t for those, I can guarantee there would have been more dropped points and the league would have been over by  now.

By all accounts, they played well against Hearts. They were back to form against Ross County this weekend though so it seems that media excitement was slightly premature.

Which confused me when Hugh Keevins made this prediction.

When asked on Clyde Superscoreboard who will win the league cup final this month by a caller named Joe, Keevins said, “Three weeks away? I think either team, I repeat, I think Rangers will win it.

“But Joe asked me a straightforward question. I’ve given Joe a straightforward answer.

“I think they’re looking good.”

I’m sorry but they are far from looking good.

Now Celtic, we are looking good.

Nine point lead at the top of the league, a goal difference the length of  Sauchiehall Street and possession stats that make it look like the opposition only get a touch of the ball because they get to kick off after we have scored.

I just wish the media would temper their enthusiasm.

After all, after 10 games into Ange Postecoglou’s reign they were having him sacked, not winning trophies.

Who am I? How good is your Celtic player knowledge?

  • John Copeland says:

The major problem Beale will have if his clumpany don’t win the Viaplay cup is that his plans and work ,all get set back 6 months ! He then tries to win the Scottish cup with Celtic having the Indian sign over him as the league is already won .When pressure hits home hard and you have to win a trophy ,mistakes and errors are inevitable … Lots of sleepless nights ! Big Ange sleeps like a newborn ,I’ll bet .
