As the managerial saga continues to haunt the Parkhead corridors the list of names grows by the day as does the mountain of speculation at who will be the next Celtic manager. As John Kennedy sees out the rest of the season as interim boss, many are of the opinion that he will be replaced at the end of the season.

But the big question is this? From all the names being bandied about, not one pundit or reporter has mentioned that Celtic have made an official approach. Until now that is.

Speaking on last nights Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, pundit and journalist, Hugh Keevins, boldly proclaimed that bookies favourite, Eddie Howe has been approached by Celtic but the club face stiff competition from other clubs in England, “I do offer this to you purely as speculation but I do understand that, Eddie Howe has been spoken to by Celtic but  is also being spoken to, by other clubs in England.”

Should Eddie Howe replace Neil Lennon?

YES

NO

It truly is a bold statement and as Keevins has said himself, it is pure speculation, but a journalist of his 50 year experience and knowledge would not simply make such a claim if there was no foundation to it. Howe would certainly fit the Celtic model as he has experience in coaching and bringing through youngsters from his days at Bournemouth and no doubt, if he was to accept the job, that would be in his remit as well as wrestling the Scottish Premiership back from our Glasgow rivals.

Howe could also be tempted by the fact that not only the now infamous ten in a row will be a burden lifted from his shoulders, but also by a crack at the Champions League to show exactly what he can do against Europe’s elite clubs.
