Sunday’s result, I think we can all agree, was a major setback in the clubs plight to challenge for the league this season.

Not only did the result and performance highlight the shocking lack of depth at Celtic Park, it also showed how desperate a situation the club finds itself in for first team players as well.

Journalist, Roger Hannah, was speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard when he told of his ‘astonishment’ at Ange Postecoglou’s admission of Boli Bolingoli in the first team against Livingston on Sunday.

Although Hannah said his inclusion was a surprise, he does feel that the Celtic boss had no option but to pitch him in, “I was astonished to see him.

“I didn’t think we’d see Boli Bolingoli in a Celtic shirt again after the incident last season.

“And I say that because I know the anger that his actions caused within the club last season.

“I’ve been very surprised to see two transfer windows go past and his permanent departure from the club hadn’t been announced in either of the transfer windows.

“So I was really surprised to see him in the team sheet at the Tony Macaroni on Sunday.

“Greg Taylor is the first choice. He’s out with a shoulder injury that will require surgery.  Young Adam Montgomery, I would say would be his backup. He had a big shift for a young man in Seville on Thursday night.

“Tony Ralston wasn’t 100% otherwise I think Josip Juranovic would have been shoved back over to left back.

“So maybe it was a needs must operation for Bolingoli to start the game, but I didn’t think he produced a performance that would necessarily command that he keeps his place against Raith on Thursday night.”

It remains to be seen if we will see much more of the Belgian this season, but maybe the plan is to play him to throw him in the shop window.

If that is the case, Bolingoli will need to step up his performances or he will continue to see his career stagnate at Parkhead.
