Well who would have thunk it? Celtic striker, Albian Ajeti, has played himself into contention for an international call up, according to Swiss media outlet Bluewin.

According to the site, with main striker Haris Seferovic out injured and set to miss the next two World Cup qualifiers, Ajeti may find himself required for international duty after his three goals in four starts for the Hoops.

It really is a sensational story for the Swiss striker.

With Ajeti now the main man at Celtic Park due to Kyogo Furuhashi’s unfortunate injury suffered, ironically, on international duty, the Swiss striker has incredibly found himself in from the wilderness and you have to say, he has took his chance.

With question marks, from some quarters, about his work rate for the team, it’s his finishing in front of goal that have made Bluewin sit up and take notice of Ajeti.

The site labelled Ajeti as the “undisputed regular player at the Bhoys” and said of the striker, “With the impressive performances at Celtic, Ajeti has played himself into Yakin’s field of vision. Could it possibly be enough for a squad in October?”

Ajeti’s two goals against Ross County earned the striker praise for Hoops gaffer Ange Postecoglou, “Hopefully it does a lot (for his confidence). He had to persevere and there was a couple of times he almost got onto the end of crosses in the first half but the key is to be there all the time and the balls will arrive and in the end he got his rewards.”

And Ajeti also got  Presidential praise from Albania from Ilir Meta for his prowess against The Staggies, “Another great win at home for this season. Happy that Albian Ajeti starts the season with two wonderful goals, further strengthening the contribution of Albanians 🇦🇱  for the unstoppable success of #CelticFC.💚 Congratulations bhoys! Hail Hail! 🍀🍀#CELROS #COYBIG

It does remain to be seen if he can force his way ahead of the three other candidates of Cedric Itten, Josip Dirnic and Michael Frey but to even get here from where he has come from is some feat for the 24 year old.
