The Bhoys took a huge step towards making the knockout stages of the Europa League last night as we sealed a tight victory in Norway against Rosenborg.
Our away form in Europe has been erratic at times in recent years but we put in a professional display to get the win and keep a clean sheet.
Indeed, a number of our players shone and one man that particularly excelled, I thought, was centre-half Dedryck Boyata.
Once labelled ‘bombscare,’ this season the Belgian has been excellent in the middle of defence and has really ironed out those mistakes.
Being around Belgium has obviously helped whilst he has been trusted to be the leader at the back and he showed he is exactly that once more last night.
He threw himself at every aerial ball last night, won a load of headers and was strong in the challenge – reading the game with aplomb.
It’s time for us to get his contract sorted.
