This was a problem we had at the start of last season remember? Players being signed that simply were not fit enough to make the first team.

Simply out of necessity.

The complete squad overhaul meant we had no choice but to go down that road.

But now? With the size of the squad that we have? We don’t need to do that now.

And that doesn’t make good reading for Celtic defender Chris Jullien.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Roger Hannah revealed what he noticed about the Frenchman during the win over Banik Ostrava, “I think Christopher Jullien needs 12 or 15 games to get up to the speed that he needs to be at.

“Celtic simply can’t afford to give anyone  15 games to get fit.

“I’m not sure what the future is going to hold for Christopher Jullien.

“I’d be fascinated to hear all the detail if we ever find out find why the move to Schalke didn’t take place.

“But in the action I have seen of him so far, I think Christopher Jullien looks a bit off the pace.”

Could that mean that the club could definitely look to offload Jullien?

Will he fall further behind the pecking order as players like Stephen Welsh and possibly Bosun Lawal take precedence in the pecking order?

I’m sure we will find out soon enough when the season kicks off in two weeks time.
