The transfer window is well and open and there seems to be a flurry of excitement around Celtic at the moment as the rumours are flying today that the Hoops are about to make a double signing.

With the supporters expecting many imports to prepare for the Champions League qualifier next week, apart from the usual suspects of Ajer, Edouard, Christie and N’tcham, the fans are not expecting many other departures this summer.

One man does, and for the second time in as many weeks, speaking on Go Radio, journalist Mark Guidi has given the strongest hint yet that Callum McGregor may be feeling his time is up at Celtic Park as he, allegedly, eyes a move down to the English Premier League, “Some people have told me that Callum McGregor still has an itch to go down south and try the English Premier League, which is totally understandable.

“Now, and if that’s the case then there needs to be an honest conversation with him and with his representatives.

“An approximate transfer fee would need to be established, but maybe the captaincy will swing it, maybe it won’t.

“Maybe he’ll just think if ever there was a time to leave the club in terms of everything happening in a oner then it will be now.

“He did fancy it, a couple years ago, Brendan Rodgers would have taken them in a heartbeat but Celtic sold Kieran Tierney.

“I think if he became available with then Brendan Rodgers would certainly have a tickle. I’m just giving out information that I’m aware of.”

He did qualify it by saying that he is not trying to shove Celtic players out the door, but without a shred of evidence or a named source Guidi continues to make these unfounded claims about Celtic’s possible future captain.

It’s as if these journalists are just waiting to dust off the cracked crest……………
