This is very peculiar. Or embarrassing. You pick.

Tell you what, read this then leave a comment on what you think. Or even better, head to the forum and discuss at will because this has left be baffled.

After Celtic beat Aberdeen 3-2 at Pittodrie last night, former Dons defender Willie Miller was speaking on BBC Sportsound and had an incredible rant at the coaching and scouting at the club.

And as is the norm for this broadcast, it’s the Celtic defence that gets it in the neck. The only thing missing was the obligatory Carl Starfelt mention which, rather bizarrely, didn’t happen.

Miller was discussing the Ramirez goal when he said, “It’s embarrassing for the opposition [Celtic].

“I’m sorry, it’s embarrassing.

“I mean, how much time do they spend on the technical side of the game?

“How many people do they have scouting the opposition?

“How much footage do they actually have scouting Aberdeen this season?

“And yet, constantly, teams do not apply whatever they are seeing, on the field of play.

“Ramirez comes from the back to the front, it’s so simple to stop, it should be stopped, it shouldn’t happen.

“But thankfully for Aberdeen, they all go to sleep and they get the goal”

Miller  shouldn’t need to worry where Ange sends his scouts or what he does on the training ground because the club are still TWENTY games unbeaten and top of the league.

Plus. we have already beaten his old club three times out of three this season.

It seems like Miller would have been best served directing his comments to the Aberdeen manager.

His comments are appalling given the performances of Aberdeen lately wonder how he felt when Jota rammed one down his throat bitter little nobody

  • Kyle says:

Well aye your right enough the fact he even says something like that is embarrassing is he trying to say that if we scouted other teams we would just win with clean sheets all the the time all he’s done is taken credit away from Aberdeen who scored a really good goal so it’s fair to say the guys a walloper and should keep his mouth shut

  • Charles says:

Maybe willie miller should listen to what ange has been saying for months. He doesn’t care what other teams do it’s what celtic do which he is concerned about. Is willie miller really trying to tell celtic how to play football

  • Saulgoodman says:

    Whos wullie Miller?

  • Tam c says:

We have been told by everyone and anyone Abada was offside in the buildup to Jota’s second … that’s marginal at best. Then Abada was blocking the Aberdeen man from getting to Jota .. My take on it…the Aberdeen player realizes he is not getting near Jota runs into Abada deliberately and claims he was blocked…..why did he not run towards Jota …. I’ll let Mr Glass answer

  • Jim meechan says:

And we all know how his managerial career went

  • Tommy McQuillan says:

Willie was a great defender and referee in his day but the Ramirez goal shouldn’t have stood as Broony is holding back Starfelt as he’s coming out to block the shot. He’s just a sore loser but one thing that’s still an issue under Ange and as was under Lenny too is we’re woeful at defending set pieces. Is the common denominator that Strachan and Kennedy are the constant here? I played centre back not to any great level but I’d be embarrassed to keep losing goals in the manner we do. Surely someone on the coaching staff has to see the pattern here and start working on it. In fairness to Ferguson he wanted it more than our defence did but that’s no excuse. We can’t keep losing these types of goals and keep winning it’ll come back to bite us on the bum eventually. I hate zonal marking as zones can’t score goals but it also keeps players free from liability, with man marking if you lose your man it’s your fault, with zonal no one’s forced to own their mistakes. It’s just as well we’re excellent going forward but that’s not always been the case this season as the Ross County, Dundee Utd and Livingston games prove. We’ve dropped five points to Livi this season and I know we’ve no God given right to beat anyone we’re expecting to win these games.

  • Jack says:

Willie Miller will do aberdeen better by getting out on the training field and coaching that’s where it counts not getting paid to bad mouth people are doing these punters forget the work they do and to come out with comments like he has shows a dislike for a club Willie should be apologising to the coaches of Celtic_fc_1888 its near enough slander nabbed not happy with result which shows our coaching staff will be happy

  • Lawrence Mathieson says:

Miller was a great player, but I don’t have a clue what he is trying to say.
