Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths won’t be making the trip to Norway with his teammates for Wednesday night’s clash against Rosenborg, despite returning to full training after injury, according to The Scottish Sun.

The goalscoring forward has yet to feature so far this season, suffering a thigh muscle injury in the build-up to the Alashkert tie.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday to say he would be back in action very soon, there were hopes that he might be fit enough to play some sort of role in Trondheim tomorrow night, but it appears his match fitness is not quite there.

The Scotland international is just two goals away from becoming the first Hoops striker since John Hartson to reach a milestone 100 goals for the club, something he is on the record as very keen on doing.

He managed to net 13 goals last term despite limited game time due to injury and competition for places with Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard.

Given Edouard’s emergence as one of the most exciting signings of recent times at the club, he’ll likely have to be patient to get first-team chances again this season.

With many, many games coming up over the next few months in a variety of competitions, there’s little doubt we’ll seem him back in action soon enough.
