Youth prospect Armstrong Okoflex, who joined Celtic after rejecting the chance to continue his development at Arsenal, has taken part in first-team training at Lennoxtown ahead of the club’s trip to Rosenborg, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Still just 16 years of age, clearly the prospect of him featuring for Brendan Rodgers side imminently is slim, but his participation at least demonstrates that the Hoops manager rates the player highly.

Okoflex, who has been involved in the youth international set-ups for both England and the Republic of Ireland, arrived at the club earlier this month.

He plays as a winger primarily and made seven appearances for Arsenals U18s side last season before making the switch to Glasgow.

Arsenal had made him a offer of a scholarship, but clearly he feels his path to first-team football is more likely at the Hoops, with Rodgers showing no fear in playing teenagers in big matches so far during his management.

His is a name to watch, and a brilliant name at that, so look out for any appearances on the bench or on the team sheet over the coming season.

Are there any other youngsters at Celtic you would like to see get a first-team chance? Let us know in the comments…
