The mystery of Dom McKay’s departure was one that gripped the Celtic support last summer.

With the new Chief Executive apparently overseeing what we all thought was the start of a beautiful relationship between himself and Ange Postecoglou, after just ten weeks in the job and twelve signings later, McKay departed the club in a veil of secrecy that caught everyone on the hop.

The Daily Record reported that he ‘jumped before he was pushed’ amid a ‘Parkhead power struggle’. No sources or quotes were attributed to that claim.

Tom English himself reported this on the BBC website, “This has come as a major surprise. I talked to somebody close to McKay who had spoken with him in the last three days and was given no indication this was in the pipeline. Everyone has been blindsided by it.”

So what is the reason he left? Why did he jump before he was pushed?

Now, I would like to point out that what you are about to read (or watch, you choose) is not being presented as fact by this site or A Celtic State of Mind.

Contributor, John Hughes, is just sharing information that he was sent that could shed some light on the departure of McKay and why Celtic are now looking like they need to accept low transfer offers for two of their first-team stars.

Have a watch:

John said, “The information that we have is supposedly from someone who is very senior. What I couldn’t understand and I think what most of us couldn’t understand is why these transfer fees that are being reported as so low doesn’t make any sense.

“But people were saying, well, the sell on clause that must be it, but who in their right mind would put a sell on clause in for basically the same amount of money as you paid for him.

“That’s mad. So that doesn’t make any sense to me. So I was asking questions about it and I was sent information. I’m going to repeat the information I have.

“I’m not claiming that it’s 100% verified. I am claiming it’s from someone I trust, who has sources at the highest levels, but again, you need to be careful.

“You don’t know what the agenda is of people passing on information at any given point.

“So the information we have is that there are three players that we signed before Dom McKay left

“McCarthy on the first of August, Juranovic 21st [August] and Giakoumakis 31st [August].

“Apparently those contracts were not run past Michael Nicholson.

“They were dealt with by Dom McKay and McKay, in his naivety, was basically noticed and immediately exploited by the agents who made a mug of him.

“And apparently there are realease clauses in there and they are for very low numbers, which are very heavily weighted against Celtic.

“And when that was discovered Dermot Desmond went absolutely ballistic and Dom McKay was gone 12 days later.”

Very explosive if this is true and it does help to shed some light on why we are faced with losing Juranovic and Giakoumakis for very little of what they are worth.

It also explains the incredible 5 year contract that was offered, and signed, by James McCarthy.

Like I said, we are not presenting this as fact, you make up your own mind and let me know what you think in the comments.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?

If true absolutely shocking on the other hand could it be advice given to McKay by our new chairman who lets face it sold the Celtic supporters down the river denying never seeing the 5way agreement which he had seen and also knowing as soon as no backbone bankier retired he would step in to replace anot don’t forget he was quoted saying he was just a phone call away just a thought ☘️
