Celtic are hoping to move on players in this window that are simply not doing it for the club.

We all know the usual suspects. Bolingoli, Ajeti, Urhoghide etc…..

But what about the academy prospects coming through at the club?

What chance to these players have if, as expected, Celtic strengthen heavily in this summers transfer window?

Players like Scott Robertson for example.

Vital Celtic recently wrote that there are four players that need to step up to save their Celtic careers this season. Scott Robertson was one of them.

After returning from an impressive loan spell at Crewe (which was cut short by injury) young Robertson has been pinpointed by the guys at A Celtic State of Mind as one that may not have a future at the club.

Brian Degnan said of the player, “It’s good he’s got experience for his age.

“The only reason I’m a little bit more cynical about it is the fact that he’s only 20 maybe bodes well for him.

“It all depends. Is he better than what we’ve got? Is he better than Turnbull, O’Riley, Hatate and McGregor?

“No. Is he better than Ideguchi? We don’t know. And that’s my point.

“I just don’t see these guys coming in and overtaking anybody.

“And I don’t know if we need squad players at the moment. So that’s why I’m kinda a bit more cynical about it.

“But if the guy comes in and follows the McGregor path then brilliant.

“It would be good to see how he does but he’s no better than what we’ve got and I don’t know enough to be super excited about it if I’m honest.”

Is it time up for Robertson? I hope not. But looking at the players ahead of him right now, it will take a Herculean effort to break into that first team.
