This is a transfer that has had a lot of column inches over the last few weeks.

As Celtic step up their activity in the transfer market, the fans are expecting the club to spend the guaranteed Champions League millions on strengthening the squad.

But it may not millions to do just that.

There are some really good free agents available out there and Vital Celtic reported on at least two of these this week. A goalkeeper and a defender.

But it was Benji Siegrist that was on the mind of Paul John Dykes.

Speaking on A Celtic State of Mind, Dykes was speaking to Brian Degnan when they started discussing the possible deal to bring former Dundee United goalkeeper Benji Siegrist to the club, “Let’s start with a goalkeeper then. You have concerns about the fact that he’s going to stop the development of someone else.

“The kind of rumblings this morning, and I don’t know what the social media chat is today, I’ve not had the chance to check.

“But the rumblings we’ve been hearing is that it is progressing, that deal with Siegrist.

“We are going to bring him in after medicals etc…”

Siegrist, as I have said on many occasions on this blog, would be a good back up option for Joe Hart and provide much needed experience should the fans favourite goalie find himself injured at any point next season.

How long will the deal take? Not too long if these comments are anything to go by.
