There was some very encouraging news on The Go Radio Football Show when presenter Rob McLean was discussing the Eddie Howe appointment to Celtic.  As the continuing saga drifts into its eighth week, it seems that there is more to this deal than meets the eye.

McLean was discussing the appointment with co pundit Davie Provan when he made the admission of problems behind the scenes causing the delay, “And what we are getting about that (Eddie Howe deal) is that there’s a bit of a red tape ensnarled, which has Eddie Howe ensnarled in the middle of it.

“I think at the moment, maybe still contractual obligations which prevent Celtic being able to unveil him as the the permanent appointment. But it seems to be when rather than if.”

With no news coming from the Parkhead boardroom and no information leakage, the Celtic fans are desperate for any kind of update on when the new manager will take the reigns.

As the season comes to a close, Celtic remain rudderless and until Howe is appointed, not only is the club limping towards the finishing line but the rebuild required to take Celtic back to the top will continue to stall until Howe takes his seat at the top of the Paradise table.

There is also no news on what kind of transfer warchest Howe will be afforded and as the club expect major departures this summer, one would presume that Howe would demand significant funds to replace the raft of first team stars about to be shown the Parkhead exit.
