Admit it, none of you had ever heard of Alistair Johnston before he was linked to the club right?
I know I hadn’t heard of him but from what we have seen of him from the World Cup, he does look like a very good player.
There is speculation that he is being lined up to replace Josip Juranovic this January and all the signs are pointing to the Croatian checking out of Paradise this winter.
But as far as Johnston goes, there has been no confirmation from the club that anything is going on.
Just mere speculation from the usual suspects of Fabrizio Romano and the Scottish media so when he was asked about the stories of him joining Celtic, Johnston didn’t really hold back.
According to the Daily Record, Johnston said, “It’s an honour just being linked with them, my phone’s been blowing up. To be linked with a club like Celtic is obviously something I think every footballer is excited by.
“It’s one of the most passionate fan bases in the world. It’s a club that even people who don’t follow football know who it is. I’m super excited to get linked to them.
“But right now, the focus is just solely on the national team. Club things, that will get figured out once January hits.”
You would have to imagine that as soon as Canada’s participation in this year’s World Cup ends, the move to the Hoops will be concluded but, until then, it does seem as though Johnston is up for a move to Glasgow.
