You can always rely on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard for a wee story or two.  Regular readers will know I frequent main stream podcasts as well as Celtic fan podcasts to get alternative views on any Celtic stories or to bring you a laugh or two at the expense of some of the pundits. Usually it’s the pundit all Celtic fans love to hate, Alex Rae (and no doubt he will come up at some point today), but this time it is Hugh Keevins.

Full time analysis approached and callers to the show were telling the panel of their disgust at the performance of the team and giving their opinion that interim manager, John Kennedy, should leave his position immediately. Keevins then inexplicably claimed that the Celtic fans are now targeting John Kennedy with personal insults, in an opinion host, Gordon Duncan, quickly took him to task about:

Keevins: “I am asking fans to take a wee step back here for me, John Kennedy is long odds against getting the Celtic job (except he is joint favourite!) of course he is. But for me and it’s always been the case, as Neil Lennon left the criticism of John Kennedy’s is too personal. The first caller was absolutely delighted that Celtic where going to be shot of Kennedy in his way of thinking.”

Duncan: “But again, you do repeat this quite often, you’re allowed to be really critical of John Kennedy as a manager. Who has said anything personal? I don’t recall any personal comments tonight?”

Keevins: “You know the caller on the line just now, ‘Get Kennedy out tonight’.”

Duncan: “But because he thinks he’s not the best fit for the club that doesn’t mean it’s personal. How many managers have fans wanted rid of since football began that doesn’t mean his personal?”

Keevins: “Yeah but think beyond that, as I say there are five league games and the Scottish Cup competition to be played. By all means, say, he should never be the Celtic manager, but have a think about it. I still think he is long odds”

Keevins, for some strange reason, himself took the call personal and found himself championing for Kennedy in a cause that isn’t even there. Now I am not naïve, I know there is an element of fans that take the criticism too far, but I am yet to see the groundswell of abuse from Celtic fans towards Kennedy that Keevins claims there is.
