John Hartson calls out social media ‘name calling’ of Ange. But from who?

I found this a rather strange statement to make from John Hartson.

After Celtic dropped two points on the road to Hibs, there seemed to be a balanced approach from the Celtic fans when they were summarising the draw at Easter Road.

Many were critical of the teams performance. And rightly so. And many called out Ange Postecoglou’s lack of using the bench to try and change the game.

Many, like me, lamented the constant crossing into the box to a lone striker that had no chance against a 6ft 7″ goalkeeper.

There was much to cast the eye over.

But I seemed to have missed is what John Hartson claims to have seen on social media. And I’m assuming he is talking about from the Celtic fans?

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Hartson said, “If you’re not scoring. Not beating teams like Hibs and you’re not beating seems like Motherwell when the three points are so desperately needed, there’s going to be frustrations from the crowd.

“But from a player’s point of view, you try and put that aside and you try and get on the training ground, you start working on things that you were doing well to a three weeks ago and you just have to get back on to playing well again.

“But I can understand and I don’t know if you are on social media but you know social media, it’s all different again, isn’t it?

“The outrage on social media and the name calling and everything that is said about Ange.

“I think Ange has done an incredible job. I mean,  unbelievable what he’s brought just in terms of his humility, you know, the way that he deals with things he doesn’t get too high, doesn’t get too low.

“He always stays very, very balanced.

“The expectation from Ange himself.  He knows how he wants Celtic to play. He gets very disappointed.

“But in terms of people sort of saying things, you know, getting disappointed and getting frustrated that’s half expected with ten games to go in this league.”

Have I missed something? Was there a social media onslaught from the Celtic fans against the manager that bordered on abuse?

Because I have seen none of that. Just balanced criticism of how the manager got it wrong on Sunday.

And certainly no name calling.

Quite a strange accusation to make with no substance from John. Which is not like him at all.

Give Ange backing if we had scored early on it would have been different the draw was not a bad result, and let us all back him and put blinkers on to negative criticism from non believers.
