You know what? I can’t wait for this day to be over.

For life to get back to some sort of normality.

For the media outlets to report on the football instead of this other noise surrounding the game.

Whether you agree with the Celtic supporter’s banners or not is one thing.

But telling people that they cannot air their views whilst allowing others to do so in perpetuity was always going to create a backlash.

And that is exactly what the Celtic support are doing. Airing their views. And it has to be said, they are not the only supporters doing so:

Spurs  on Saturday:

Notts Forest:

Everton yesterday:

Liverpool earlier last week:

All show their thoughts but none are reported on the scale that we have seen against our fans. This narrative that it’s ‘just Celtic fans’ is getting boring and repetitive. And Keith Jackson of the Daily Record decided to wade in.

Writing in his column in the Daily Record, Jackson said, “The obnoxious protests against the royal family at a time of national mourning were both pathetic and predictable and designed to provoke maximum offence and outrage.”

I don’t think Jackson quite gets the point of protests, does he?

“Of course, there is such a thing as freedom of speech but, even so, there is a time and place to make such a point.”

So if there is such a thing as freedom of speech, why is Jackson advocating shutting it down?

“And Paisley yesterday afternoon – on the eve of the funeral of the Queen – was neither of them. Rather, it was vulgar and lacking in class which does not reflect well on the Scottish game in general.”

Now, here is the kicker. The protest yesterday wasn’t about the Queen. It was about the establishment as a whole.

And what people are feeling disillusioned by is the constant force-feeding of how you must feel about the death of a Royal instead of listening to those that are airing their feelings of why they don’t share the same sentiments.

And if you don’t want political views being displayed at football, don’t introduce political deeds or actions that not all people agree with.

Whilst Jackson did touch on the conduct of the Dundee United, Hibs and Aberdeen fans, it was nowhere near the level of vitriol he aimed at Celtic supporters.

But that just doesn’t get clicks now, does it?

It’s the dreaded international break. So take away the boredom and try our *BRAND NEW* quiz. Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
