Whilst the Bhoys did a great job in Romania at keeping ourselves firmly in with a chance of making it into the play-off round of the Champions League, news about Kieran Tierney also broke.
And, unfortunately, it was bad news.
After a whole summer of rumour and speculation that a deal involving the player was on and then off again, it looks as though he is set to leave today – the English deadline for Premier League clubs.
Indeed, according to David Ornstein on Twitter, a medical is scheduled today:
Arsenal have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign centre-back David Luiz for £8m. 32yo Brazil international will sign a 2yr contract. Deal for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney 5yrs, fee £25m. Medicals today ahead of putting pen to paper before 5pm deadline #AFC #CFC #CelticFc

It’s not the news we wanted after a great performance in Europe last night but it is perhaps not a surprise that Arsenal have come back in for him late on and appeared to get it done.
Of course, the medical needs to be passed but that is probably going to happen and then he’s off, we can only wish him well.
