Close season is one that can excite and bore me at the same time.

Excite because of the transfer news. Bore because of the lack of football for the next eight weeks.

But there is some exciting transfer news to report this morning as a late night story broke on Football Scotland.

The news outlet told of a development in a permanent move from Celtic for Jota as Football Scotland reported that Portuguese media outlet, A Bola, claimed the deal for the 23 year old was ‘practically confirmed’.

When looking at the report in closer detail, A Bola wrote, “After, it seems, benfiquista (supporter of Benfica) Jota, who represented Celtic on loan from the Eagles this season, was virtually confirmed in the Glasgow team that will have exercised the €7.5M option clause.”

The Celtic fans will be delighted with this news as Jota quickly became a fans favourite after sparkling performances in the early part of the season.

Injury hampered his progress in the side and it did seem that towards the end of this season, the Portuguese winger was starting to find his best form.

With Celtic having first option to buy, I guess now, it’s all up to Jota.

Stay and be guaranteed Champions League group stage football in front of 60,000 fans every second week, or return to Benfica and try to displace the 25 capped Brazilian star Éverton.

I know what I would choose.
