The Times are reporting that Leicester City were willing to wait until the end of the season for Brendan Rodgers, but that the manager himself decided to leave Celtic early.
Initially conclusions were drawn that Leicester had demanded he join the club right now as a ‘take it or leave it offer’, leaving Rodgers in something of a difficult position.
However, The Times report would suggest that is not the case.
The revelation will not come as a surprise to Celtic supporters at this point but it does highlight just how little regard he had for the Hoops and fans who at the very least expected him to see out this season.
Rodgers has severely tarnished what would have been a mythical and immortal reputation at Celtic in order to help Leicester City climb into the top half of the table this season.
It’s ridiculous when stated so simply.
Celtic moved on perfectly last night with a thumping late win over Hearts at Tynecastle, with Neil Lennon helps fans forget all about Rodgers.
It’s now up to the board at Celtic Park to decide what is best for the club, but that can all come in the summer. For now everyone is behind Lennon and rightly so.
There’ll be a fight to win trophies in the tail-end of this season and the new manager is someone to be proud of.
