Lennon defends Celtic boards running of club as “Fantastic”

|

Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, has defended the Parkhead board’s running of the club and says he finds the questioning of how the club has been ran as “baffling”. He was asked at his press conference by fan group 90 Minute Cynic if he understood why there has been calls from the supporters for change at boardroom level, Lennon answered “No”.

Celtic are all but out the title race, have exited Europe and the League Cup in November and are seemingly on the verge of losing some first team players in this widow but Lennon says he can’t see what the fans are seeing, “We’ve won nine league titles in a row and four consecutive trebles which no club has ever done.

“So I don’t understand why because we’re having a difficult season there’s this theory of change the board, change the club from top to bottom.

“That’s not what I’m seeing and I think I know the club well enough.

“I’m not going to cut corners with what I’m saying, I understand that people now want a change of manager and a change of managerial staff but the way the club’s been run over the past 20 years has been absolutely fantastic.”

As each press conference passes, it is clear that the disconnect between the club and the fans is not only at boardroom level.
