Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, is apparently pushing for Preston defender, Ben Davies, to join his squad in the January window, as is being reported in the Scottish media this afternoon.

It was initially believed that Davies would sign a pre contract agreement with the Hoops as talks were at an advanced stage, but after losing Jeremie Frimpong to the Bundesliga for £11.5m.

It seems Lennon is keen to put those funds to use to plug the gap in the Celtic defence with towering French centre back, Christopher Jullien, out for four months due to injury.

There are also reports that the Preston manager, Alex Neil, odds have been slashed to take over the Celtic hotseat in the summer.

Neil’s odds were cut in the last 24 hours as the Celtic manager comes under more intense pressure after an almost winless January.

Celtic recorded their first win in 2021 last night with a 2-0 win at home over bottom club Hamilton, but that still wasn’t enough to relieve the pressure from the Hoops gaffer.

Neil was initially placed at 33/1 with bookmakers and those odds have been significantly reduced to the 20’s to make the former Scottish Premiership manager one of the front runners for the job.
