Neil Lennon has urged fans not to show a repeat of last Sunday nights scenes this weekend as he prepares his side for the visit of St Johnstone on Sunday.  Fan’s protested after the shock 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Ross County at Celtic Park ending a five year unbeaten run in the League Cup competition.

I wrote and article after the incident completely condemning the actions the Celtic fans took last Sunday. and I’ll say it again, I understand why the fans took the action they did, but what they did was abhorrent, out of order and in a time where the pandemic is still sweeping across the central belt, irresponsible.

But if Lennon doesn’t want a repeat of last Sunday’s event he needs to start picking his best eleven. Get them organised and start winning matches. Two wins in twelve in games is a shocking run of form for any Celtic side and if Lennon’s men lose on Sunday he will beat another unwanted record this season. It has been 74 years since Celtic last lost five home games in a row.  Back then the Hoops lost consecutive games against Morton, Hearts, Clyde, Third Lanark and Rangers.

Currently, Celtic have the poorest defensive record of any team in the Europa League and Champions League and this is a run of form that must come to an end if the Celtic boss has any aspirations of turning the tide on the domestic front to mount a challenge for the title this season.

There  comes a time when you need to call it when you see it. If Lennon oversees another embarrassing record during his tenure then he must walk. I genuinely want Lennon to succeed. If he succeeds that means the team is winning and the performances are improving. But he must secure the three points on Sunday. No excuses.
