I regularly listen to Clyde 1 Superscoreboard podcast.  Last nights episode has a spectacular few minutes where Hugh Keevins gave his “insight” to what he believed was wrong at Celtic. It’s thirty three minutes in, and it is unconscious comedy gold from Keevins.

Hugh turned into an amateur psychologist as he deemed that Lennon and Kennedy’s relationship is not up to the same standard or at the same level as Gerard and McAllister over the water. Hugh said, “It looks to me as if there is no great rapport between Neil Lennon, John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan“.  Gordon Duncan took him to task on this and pressed him to back up his “outlandish claim”.  But Hugh, couldn’t and wouldn’t back up his claims because his claim is a load of old tosh.  Hugh, like Chris Sutton and like MANY Celtic fans, has just looked for a reason behind Celtic’s poor run of form and results and thought “Yep, that’ll do”.

During that time the caller that was on during Hugh’s psychology session last night tried to claim that Celtic’s troubles were partly down to the role of the medical staff and how the return of players from injury seem to take longer under Lennon than it did under Rodgers. The caller couldn’t base his point on any proof, couldn’t back up his claims as it was merely his opinion.

Hugh, quite rightly, shot that claim down and replied  “it is disrespectful to Celtic to make that claim”.  Hugh also said “the caller is just sitting there racking his brain to come up with a reason” for Celtic’s form, when literally three minutes ago, Hugh just did the very same thing with his “assertions”. You could not make this hypocrisy up.

And talking of hypocrisy, the fellow panellist, Jim Duffy, sat meekly as Hugh made his Lennon/Kennedy claim and uttered not a peep, then totally lambasted the caller for “talking mince”. C’mon Jim, can  you not see  how made yourself look?  Why did you not offer the same criticism to Keevins during his rambling? As a fellow manager, you should know better and should have took him to task.

Hugh. like Chris Sutton before him, has just fed fuel to a burning lie that is currently raging amongst the Celtic fans that somehow Kennedy is the problem. Hugh, Sutton and the fans cannot prove a single thing about Kennedy and Lennon’s relationship and they should really keep their unfounded opinions to themselves. As a broadcaster and journalist, that is a basic rule right? Do not make claims unless you can back them up? Unless you want to stick the proverbial boot into Celtic that is………
