Deep down we all knew this was going to happen.
As soon as Michael Nicholson stepped into Dom McKay’s shoes earlier this season, the fans KNEW that this was not just an interim appointment.
Going by the track record of this board and the statement the club released when he was appointed, all the hallmarks were there that this would be a permanent appointment, “It has been my pleasure to work closely with Michael for more than 8 years now.
“Having been at the heart of the senior executive and reporting to the Board, he has a solid grip on how to achieve our immediate and future objectives.
“Michael is an absolute team player and he will lead an experienced and talented team of executives and colleagues at Celtic. “
Team player. There was the alarm bells right there.
Jobs for the boys.
In a statement released on social media, Celtic chairman Ian Bankier said, “We are delighted to confirm this appointment. Michael is well known and highly respected across football domestically and internationally.
“He has the ability and experience to take Celtic forward positively and achieve great results.
“The appointments of Michael and Chris bring important continuity.
“They have been close to Ange since his arrival as football manager in the summer, and since then they have supported him brilliantly and will continue to do so as we further develop our football operations.”

A ridiculous decision. Absolutely ridiculous. An internal appointment with zero experience and no attempt made at all to find a qualified candidate. He’s been acting in an interim capacity for months and spent them in hiding. A dire appointment. This board is not fit for purpose.
