Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was loosely linked with former Tottenham Hotspur and England man Jermain Defoe over the summer transfer window but a deal couldn’t be done and he ended up moving to Premier League side Bournemouth.
With those reports getting an airing again in the Sunday Post over the weekend, plenty of Celtic fans have reacted to the implication that we could be back in for him in the New Year with some pleasure.
36-year-old Defoe has only made eight appearances for Eddie Howe’s side so far in the season of 2018/19 and we aren’t the only side linked with a potential loan spell, but of course, his wages may prove to be a problem despite the experience he’d bring.
Jermaine Defoe would run riot up here. Sign him for the 10, Brendan.

Defoe will score goals and I for one would love to have him at Celtic Park

If this is true, I would forget Carroll, but I would give Defoe a run as he could mentor Eddy, Johnstone, and the other strikers coming through. Carroll is a waster and bench warmer.

I wouldn't be against Defoe I just can't see it happening mate.

The report also links West Ham United striker Andy Carroll and he has of course been linked with Celtic in the past, but given his long-standing injury issues in recent seasons, when you factor in that wage it would be a massive gamble in my mind.
